This song describes the entire lifestyle of a shepherd. The shepherd is on the move before dawn either to water his sheep at the stream, known as Valea Kalda, or to take his sheep to pasture. As he is away from cities and villages he sends his friend to bring him what he needs for survival. However, his friend seems to be late and he is deeply worried. While sleeping for a while during down (apiritu), he dreamt that his friend had died. This is what actually happened in reality too.
